Y'all said 'where there's smoke", and left it open, of course usually the rest of the quote is "there's fire" but many times where there's smoke there's someone blowing it from their crack pipe. Y'all are reaching hard to say there is to much there, when the stories are worse than the accusations against the lacrosse them a few years ago. It doesn't get much more unprofessional drawing conclusions about an accusation before evidence has been heard. The president and Eric folder did it and now a riot is immanent, because the evidence is overwhelmingly on the side of the police officer! Sure hope you know you are not roll models, but instigating anger and possibly violence by your irresponsibility

Every time these issues are brought up, everyone gives their PhD answers and go away and never actually think about the problem and listen to people that been through break ups and try to get to the root of the problem.. Yes there's blame on both parts-but I think this article written by a black women, is trying to touch on a very sensitive issue, which is the black man has been scrutinized, broke down, studied and examined..But the black women is exempt from all of this under the protection of being a "women"... Because as a society we are trained to protect the vulnerable -rightfully so.(for some perceive vulnerable).. She never examines herself...her Friends play two much of an influential role in their relationships...yes They are strong-but weak in a relationship.... As one of the other guy mentioned, its a culture change a paradigm shift... The things we were thought that a gentle man must do, like open the car door for your lady..Etc.. Now contradicts the whole independent women movement, after awhile a women may feel suppress,clutter, controlled with all these gentlemen acts......the roles are messed up... So there's a lot that we need to think about and talk about- and I hope to catch the ear of men/women that are not stuck in their positions-because all that brings is ignorance and blame to a good conversation....

I can understand your viewpoint but I also have to agree with the writer of this article. I agree that many African American men have not owned up to the responsibilities of taking care of his offspring and that has created a significant negative impact on the family. True, it has forced African American women to be the nurturer and leader of many homes. However, I as an African-American man can confidently say that not all of us are irresponsible dead-beat dads and many of us DO take care of our kids. The issue that I see among many African-American women is that they say that they would like to "find a good man," however, when they find one, they don't know how to allow that man to "be the man." In the past, I dated a lady who stated that she would not want to get married because "she would not be willing to give up any power in the home."

So, in summary, I believe that both are at fault. Until we learn to compromise and instead of undergoing power struggles in relationships, there will always be conversations like this with no solution.
